Latest Update for COVID-19 & MHS

Dear Parents and Students,

After careful consideration of the information coming out of local, state, and federal agencies, as well as consultation with medical professionals in our area, Magnolia Heights will follow the recommendations from Governor Tate Reeves and the Mid-South Association of Independent Schools and delay the return to school for all students through at least Friday, March 20th. Extended Care will also remain closed during this time.

On March 16th and 17th, MHS Faculty and Staff will meet to plan the implementation of distance learning for all of our students for as long as an extended school closure makes it necessary. Plans will be developed to continue instructional practices for all of our students with any accommodations necessary.

All extra-curricular activities, including the Beauty Revue, District Science Fair, play practice, and athletic competitions are postponed and will be rescheduled.

Please know that this decision was not made lightly. We understand the hardships this may impose on working families and especially those with younger children who may depend on our programs. However, I know that our MHS family is strong, and we are all willing to work together during this difficult time in our country. We will continue to be proactive to protect our students and families.

Information regarding COVID-19 is continually changing, so we will continue to pay close attention and act proportionately in response to future changes and/or in response to the advice of local, state, and federal health and governmental agencies, adjusting our plans or extending the period of remote learning as needed.

We ask you to continue praying for our country, our leaders, medical staff, and those who have been affected by this virus. Also, please be in prayer for our faculty and staff as we work adjusting lesson plans so we can continue to provide the quality of education our parents and students expect and enjoy. However, please also remember that our Heavenly Father is in control. He knows all about COVID-19. Pray that He will give us wisdom and discernment as we navigate these uncharted waters, and give a special measure of skill and expertise to our healthcare providers and researchers as they work tirelessly to find answers.

May God bless you and yours.
