Play Day!!!

With the arrival of spring comes a very busy time of year for all involved with Magnolia Heights.  Baseball is in full swing and the track, golf and tennis teams are beginning their yearly campaigns.  Along with the athletic teams another team is working hard on a once a year event.  The drama team has been working hard since Christmas to get ready for this weekend's performances of "Switching Principals".  The play should be very enjoyable for the MHS family since it is a comedy written about - get this - the confusion that can occur in a high school office when a team of con men come to town. The lighthearted play displays the comedic talent of more than several Chief students.  And to add to the authenticity of the set - real office furniture was stolen borrowed from the MHS office suites.  So make plans to attend and see Hannah cry and apply a death grip to headmaster Zach's leg so she would not get in trouble for being a thief.  We look forward to seeing you there.

When students come back to school and face a long stretch with no scheduled breaks, many times it places a damper on their enthusiasm. Students at MHS returned Tuesday to have just such a stretch in front of them - 39 straight days for the underclassmen.  There is only one half day of school between now and exams (Springfest on April 28th).  However, the mood up on the hill is not morose by any means.  In fact, one could say that it is downright happy. The big reason is one of our family, Will Moore, learned that he has won a four year long battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and does not have to undergo chemotherapy anymore.  On his visit over the weekend - Easter weekend - the hospital where he was undergoing treatment threw him a surprise party.  Not to be outdone, Will's classmates and teachers decided to have a party on the first day back to school.  In his honor, his classmates released almost a hundred balloons and had drinks and sweets on the front lawn as his extremely grateful parents and friends looked on. Truly it was day of celebration. Pictures can be seen here.
