The Harvest Moon
The definition of the term "harvest moon" is the full moon closest to the first day of autumn. Due to specific conditions that exists at that time of year, this full moon appears much larger, brighter, and more colorful than regular full moons. When crops were picked by hand, this full moon would sometimes provide enough light that farmers could get their crops in before cold weather set in for the winter. Because of this, the term "harvest moon" was given to this full moon and the term was synonymous to a time of gathering and feasting.
Monday evening, MHS celebrated this time of gathering and feasting with the Harvest Fun Festival. The turnout was so good that, at one point, cars were lined up all the way down to the highway. It was a pleasure to see the kids having such a good time and enjoying themselves. Pictures of the event can be seen here.
We want to thank everyone who came out to this event to help support Magnolia Heights. The money raised Monday evening will ultimately be used to fund and improve the educational quality of Magnolia Heights today and in the future. As always, the students and faculty of MHS wants to thank the MHS Parent's Club for their seemingly never ending work. Without their hard work there would be no way for MHS to grow and provide a quality education. Magnolia Heights could not do it without you!!!

News and Upcoming Events
The MHS football team will travel to Lee Academy - Marianna, AR, on Friday.
Congratulations to Rian O'Bannon The 2008 Homecoming Queen (Pictures here) ******************************************** Next Friday night, Presbyterian Christian will travel from Hattiesburg to play in the MPSA playoff game at Cahill Field. The head coach of PCS is named Johnny Mills. Coach Mills is from Pope, MS, and he has three daughters. One of his daughters, Jaime, has recently undergone brain surgery and has been struggling with tumors for some time. PCS sent out a note to all MPSA member schools to ask for prayer for Coach Mills and his family. Many people are comforted by seeing messages and words of encouragement, so a link to Jaime's Caringbridge site has been added to the prayer page. So even though we will face each other across the field of play, we are actually on the same side of the field when someone is in need of prayer. |
