John C. Stennis scholarship in Political Science to Mississippi State University is for $2,000 per year with February 28th deadline.

Mississippi State Promise award is for freshmen attending Mississippi State University with demonstrated significant financial need.

Burger King Scholars Program allows high schools to nominate one student for $1,000 award based on community service and financial need with a December 15th deadline.

Luckyday Foundation Citizenship Scholars Program has a January 5th deadline and provides $1,250 per semester for recipients attending the University of Southern Mississippi.  Candidates must demonstrate leadership and community involvement.

National Society Daughters of the American Revolution offers educational opportunities for several academic majors with varying scholarship values.  Any student interested in history or nursing may apply.  Well qualified, deserving sons and daughters of members of the NSDAR may apply for college scholarships, regardless of major.  February 15th is the deadline for these scholarships.

Mississippi Municipal League annually presents two $1,000 scholarships to encourage tomorrow’s leaders to further their knowledge of municipal government.  Essay and application required.

Residents of Hernando are eligible to apply for the Ramelle V. Eason Scholarship from the Hernando Woman’s Club.  This $500 award is intended for a “B” student who participates in extra curricular activities and would probably not receive additional scholarships.

 The Ben Flanagan Memorial Scholarship is a $500 award given to a high school senior who resides in DeSoto County.  Applicants write an essay from selected topics that reveal knowledge, character, and beliefs of the student.  Deadline is April 1st each year.

www.coca-colascholars.org    Student should have demonstrated leadership, commitment to community, and academic achievement.  October 31st is the deadline for these $10,000-$20,000 awards.

www.ms.gov/sfa/nissanEntry.jsp  The Nissan scholarships are based on demonstrated leadership, financial need, ACT-20, GPA-2.5.  March 1st deadline for this full tuition scholarship designated for first generation college students.

www.usafunds.org  Academic performance and demonstrated leadership are the criteria for this scholarship that varies in amount of award with a February 15th deadline.

www.mde.k12.ms.us/scholarship/scholdev.html  The Robert Byrd scholarship is based on leadership ability, extracurricular activities, academic performance, and an essay.  March 31st is the deadline for this $1,100-$1,500 yearly, renewable, award.  

www.horatioalger.com  Students should apply by October 30th  to be considered for this scholarship that requires demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, financial need, and good academic performance.

www.axa-achievement.com  Based on ambition and drive, respect for others and community, this $2,000-$25,000 scholarship has a December 15th deadline.     

www.davidsonfellows.org  March 3rd  is the deadline for this $10,000-$50,000 scholarship.  Eligible students must have created a significant piece of work or demonstrated exemplary accomplishments.

www.msmentoring.org  April 1st is the deadline for this scholarship that requires 100 hours or more of mentoring children to be eligible for $1,000-$5,000.

www.mslandbank.com  Scholarship applicants must be pursuing a degree in business, business administration, forestry or agriculture; have demonstrated academic achievement; be in good standing at their respective school; must show good moral character and demonstrated leadership ability.  Scholarships range from $500 - $1,000.
